2009 ARRA Summer Youth Employment Program

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provided funds to create summer employment opportunities for youth in Local Area I during the summer of 2009. The goal of the Summer Youth program was to introduce and reinforce the demands and rewards of holding a job. While earning a wage, youth learned work ready skills, explored demand occupations and post-secondary education opportunities. Kansas WorkforceONE’s goal for operating the Summer Youth Program throughout the 62 counties of Local Area I was to provide meaningful work experiences that create or strengthen their foundation for their future in the world of work.The report below provides an analysis of Local Area I’s Summer Youth Employment Program during 2009.
